▤ PDFShrink
Small files. Yours to keep.

Less file size.
More peace of mind.

Compress a PDF right in your browser. Your document stays on your device, from selection to download.

No file selected

Preserve mode rewrites the PDF structure without rasterizing pages. Existing compressed images may not shrink. Digital signatures may become invalid; keep your original.

50 MB input limit · image mode: up to 100 pages · results depend on the document.

A lighter workflow

Three steps. No upload to a server.

01

Choose a document

Select a PDF on your device. We read it locally, without sending its contents to a server.

02

Pick your balance

Preserve text for everyday documents. Choose image mode for scans when smaller size matters more than selectable text.

03

Download and check

See the actual size change, then save your file. If the result is bigger, we offer your original instead.

Choose the right method for your PDF

Text documents

Start with preserve mode. It keeps text and vectors but may save little or nothing if your PDF is already optimized.

Scans and photos

Image mode redraws pages as JPEG images. This can substantially reduce large scans, with a loss of detail and document features.

Important originals

Keep signed, archival, accessible, and print-ready originals. Compression is not redaction or a guarantee of compliance.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. The selected PDF is processed in browser memory. The website and its bundled libraries are downloaded from the host, but your document contents are not sent by the compressor.

How much smaller will my PDF be?

There is no guaranteed percentage. Large image scans often benefit from image mode. Text-heavy or already compressed PDFs may barely change. If the output is not smaller, we offer the original file and report that no reduction was achieved.

Will text remain searchable?

Preserve mode retains text and vector content. Image mode converts each page to a JPEG image and does not perform OCR. Text will no longer be searchable or selectable, and links, forms, bookmarks, accessibility tags and signatures are not retained.

Can I compress password-protected PDFs?

Not with this version. Unlock a copy with a trusted PDF tool you are authorized to use, then try again. Corrupted and unsupported files may also fail.

Why is there a size or page limit?

Processing uses your device memory. Files are limited to 50 MB. Image mode is limited to 100 pages, with a per-page pixel cap to reduce memory pressure. Large documents can still exceed your device capacity.

Does it work offline?

Processing needs no server, but you must load the site and its bundled assets first. This version does not guarantee offline availability.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no account, payment, or subscription on this website.

Can it remove confidential information?

No. Compression is not secure redaction, sanitization, or metadata removal. Do not rely on it to remove hidden or sensitive information.
